Actress Selma Blaire keeps fans updated on her MS Battle

47 year old actress, Selma Blair is actively updating her followers on the latest in her battle with Multiple Sclerosis after recently completing an intense round of treatment. She took to Instagram last Thursday to share a photo of herself, alongside her Alinker walk assist bike, with her head shaved and the caption:

“Today is a banner day. I am being discharged from the care of an incredible team of nurses and techs and a visionary Dr. who believes in my healing as much as I do. This has been a process. And will continue to be one. I am immunocompromised for next three months at least. So no kisses please. I wanted to make sure any complications that might arise here were my private space. And we got through brilliantly. I see things so much more clearly now. And I am excited to share this journey when I am ready. For now, I have recovery.”

Blair revealed her MS diagnosis via Instagram in October, mentioning she “probably had this incurable disease for 15 years at least,” but her symptoms “were never taken seriously.” She has been documenting her life on social media since in order to create awareness.

According to Mayo Clinic, Multiple sclerosis (MS) is defined as: “is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). The immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibres and causes communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves”.

Despite successfully finishing her treatment, the Cruel Intentions star recently said she’s “seemingly sicker”.

My life had always revolved around my horses and my love for competing in showjumping so the future didn’t look bright. My diagnosis took over a year from when I first started having issues. When I was competing, my vision would blur, my muscles would go weak and I would fall off the side of the horse for no reason as soon as my core temperature raised. October last year my neighbour introduced me to Mayaka Natural Clinic and I purchased their MS herbal formula and used it for six weeks. Its been 7 months since I completed the treatment,…
